QUEENIE + TUNA
The plan was for an early start and back to the ramp by early afternoon before things got too lumpy. Unfortunately, the early start wasn't working for us, as there was a lack of surface action no matter when we searched. Change of plans to test out some Rocky points to try and find the bait. Right on arrival to our fist rocky area the sounder lit up and before we knew it, the pencil popper got hammered by a decent Queenie, that was putting on a show with some monster leaps and ripping line. After the Queenie was landed and released, the was no sign of the school, so we decided to troll around before moving on to the next spot. Things had gone quiet again, so we were once again hunting the fish. We eventually found a school of small and medium Mac Tuna feeding on the surface. These fish were fussy and easily spooked, so after some manoeuvring and extra long casts we where hooked up and back in the action. It was a solid fish causing plenty of mayhem as I chased it around the boat, and after it posed for a quick photo, it was speared back to catch up with the school that had moved on. As the afternoon hit we headed for the ramp, happy to be back amongst it after a couple of moths off the water.
