MACKEREL MAYHEM

An early start this morning to be on the water before 0600 as we needed to be home just after lunch. We where surprised to see some solid swell despite the lack of overnight wind and also shocked to see birds working just outside the marina breakwall. So our plans were quickly changed by taking a left hand turn towards the pier. What followed was a morning of mackerel mayhem. We caught broadbar, school and spotted mackerel with our biggest fish measuring 75cm. As usual with mackerel fishing, we lost a few jigs but that's Dads problem. I just reloaded and kept fishing. Overall, we caught more than 50 fish for the morning, all within 2.5kms of the marina. It wasn't our original plan was turned out to be a great morning on the water.
