FISHING WITH POP

Nan and Pop visited Hervey Bay so that meant the boys had to go fishing, as this would be first time that we had three generations in the boat. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't playing the game but we weren't going to miss this opportunity. So with limited options we headed out in hope of the wind holding off to land a few fish for Pop. No such luck as the wind continued to ramp up throughout the morning, meaning we only travelled as far as the top of Big Woody Island. I was having a great time catching plenty of undersized reefies in relatively shallow water but the trophy fish were harder to come by. With most other boats heading back to the shelter of Urangan Marina, we were shocked to see a couple of whales coming our way. We had no idea that Humpbacks ventured so far south within the bay. It was a great thrill for Pop and the whales circled us for a few laps before moving on. So not the trip we originally planned but a great day anyway.
