HOT TUNA

In Darwin there are some very hot and humid days, and they coincide with when we like to go fishing as the mornings can be glass outs. One of those days just happened to be the day we caught our first tuna. When we arrived at our fishing spot in the morning we happened to notice that the bust ups were a lot different to usual and that tuna were jumping out of the water. Tuna like the clear water and the visibility and glass out meant perfect conditions. We were pretty pumped to be Tuna fishing but knew that they are flighty so we had to use the electric and do long casts.
Dad let rip with a 25g slug that landed right in the small school and he was on straight away. I was crapping myself with excitement but also nervous not to mess up netting dads fish. It was a great fight and I netted it fist go; it was very exciting. There was lots of high fives and we successfully released our first Longtail tuna. A great start to the day followed by plenty of Mackerel, Queenies and Trevally. A day we'll never forget.
