HARBOUR MONSTER

We generally like to use lures when fishing. Dad talks about fish hunting (funting as he sometimes calls it). But on some days we will use bait, especially small fishing we have caught on lures. This morning was a bit slow so when we caught a Spanish Flag (some call them stripeys), we hooked it up to the heavy rod and sent it down in 15m of water. A few minutes later and the road went off. I grabbed it and headed to the back of the boat as line was peeling away from us. Dad was saying to tighten up the drag and I was trying but this fish was hard to handle. After I almost went in the water dad took over but he was struggling to get any line back so I used the Motorguide to chase the fish. After 45mins, chasing the fish 700m and having lots of spectator boats, we finally got the beast just under the boat. It was a monster Groper but as I ran to get the camera for a photo, it snapped the 80lb leader and swam away. Dad needed a break after that one.
